Favorite thirst quenchers without Alc. , sugar , or caffeine?

If you want no alc , sugar or caffeine in a real thirst quencher , what else is there besides water?

I like beer and I sometimes have a diet soda but I would like something else besides water for days when I'm being "good" and avoiding alc , sugar and caffeine. Any favorites in this category?

plain, unsweentened ice tea, 2 outta 3! lemonade also 2 outta 3 but good sugars.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

A lot of glass blowers drop a couple E-mergen-C tablets into water. It's loaded with electrolytes and potasium if I remember right. The orange ones are pretty tasty.

Saltheart, please try this....

My wife started drinking these and absolutely raved about them. I am a water or Gatorade guy and never even gave them a thought. I picked one up recently and haven't looked back. They are great and really refreshing. They are also addictive. Give it a shot and lt me know.

Yeah unsweetened ice tea is probably the closest you can get, but it would have to be herbal tea to lose the caffeine, even green tea has caffeine!

Sometimes I like diet snapple or diet vitamin water but the sucralose or whatever they use for a sugar substitute can't be good for you. We drink a ton of seltzer water in my house, but then that's really just water which you said you dont' like!

Well....its I guess technically still water but...

Water flavoroed with Basil or mint (yes try it, yum)
Do a lot of lemon or lime in water
sometimes I just have to have some bubbles so soda water with any of the above.
Unsweetened iced teas. There are many herbal ones that make excellent iced teas like peppermint, lavender, rose hip, hibiscus, huckleberry, raspberry leaf all with no caffiene. If your not into any of those why not make your own decaf iced tea/unsweetened? In fact with colder weather coming I will suggest others great steeped in hot water to make a "tea" for hot drinks. Fennel seed, cinnamon sticks, sage, mint again ... all in your spice cabinet already!

I dont drink soda (discovered years ago how much it made me feel like S*^T) I have one once in a great while but then the sugar makes my mouth feel nasty (can you say furry teeth?) and thirstier...go figure.

Simplify.......

Non alcoholic beer? Or does that still have a negligible amount?

Tons of sugar, unless you get the low calorie stuff. I think they call it G2?

If I absolutely, positively have to drink something besides water on a long ride, I use Powerade Zero. Doesn't taste like battery acid. Normally, I just go with water, and half a banana for potassium and a little sugar boost.

I do like just cold water and drink a lot of it. I just want something different now and then.

I like sparkling water and do buy the Schweppes and Polar. The little bit of flavor does make it a welcome change from plain water but in fact , its just burpy water.

The Camelback info is a classic example of what you run into when you try to avoid sugar. Instead of sugar you get salt. 410 Mg of sodium in one serving is a lot since it takes at least 16 OZ to quench my thirst when I'm really thirsty. Then add in the potassium and calcium and magnesium salts and essentially you have traded a sugary taste for a saly taste. As far as I know only the excessive amount of sodium is a problem for most since many do seek potassium and magnesium additions to their diets. Interestingly , when I make beer , I add sodium , potassium , magnesium and calcium salts to the water. These salt additions are not for the final drinker of the beer. They are nutrients for the yeast that do the fermenting.

Carrot juice sounds promising. I'll give it a try. Jenn has a lot of good suggestions with the spice/ herbal stuff.

In China , they all sit around drinking tea or just plain hot water at night. I'm sure there must be some spice/herb mixtures they throw into the hot water too , besides tea.

Tea would be perfect but it has caffeine. I really like the diet Snapple as a no sugar thing but the caffeine is definitely there.

Believe it or not , "no nothing Coke" (gold can) is not bad. No sugar , no alc , no caffeine but of course we have no idea what the sugar substitute may be doing to us over the long run.

I think I'll have to try some of the veggie juices with low sodium and also try to brew up some herbal/spice concoctions. It amazes me that with literally hundreds of drinks on the market , almost all are based on sugar , caffeine or alc.

Beer has sugar in it.

Zico coconut water good stuff, hydration

Stuff with sugar:
Newmans own: mango tango(excellent with coconut ciroc vodka), gorilla grape.

We don't do soda here unless its got a healthy shot of rum in it and a twist of lime.

Just regular Gatorade however it is loaded with sugars. Thinking of trying tablets to just add to plain water.

The zero calorie stuff is absolutely horrible for you. Everythig you consume should have calories. Calories get turned into energy. Now you're consuming something your body thinks has calories and it doesn't its lab rat food.. Your body cant process it and what does the body store stuff if has no clue what to do with?? Yep fat, it's stored as fat. Enjoy that diet coke and those 18 equals.
