After burning through my Stella 10K, every year the gear set is wiped third overhaul from Shimano. This year I'm trying the new Diawa ISLA 7000H. We'll see how it holds up.

how do you burn thru a stella every year? Are you the type of person that can break an anvil?

Every year I sent it out it needed new gears and bearings due to wear. This year they did them again but on the slip it said bearings are "discontinued" now. I used it a ton , never had any real issues with it and you can't beat the $30.00 charge from Shimano for the overhaul. But it will now be a plugging reel , I was using it for everything including jigging 4-6oz all night for alot of nights. Maybe it was too much on it , but for the $$ I wouldn't expect it to have to be overhauled majorly every year.

My stella sw5000 and Saltiga 4500z both got new main and pinion gears this winter. Shimano cost $30 shipped, Saltiga $220 shipped. When the time come, I probably will look at the saragosa.
