I am junk. Cleared 12 properties.... Started at 0530. Son was on the shovel doing stairs and breaking down banks and snow that was over the Ariens scoop. He did a great job. And made a good day's pay. I just hope he can show up tomorrow before his afternoon classes at Salem State. Need to do a second sweep at a couple properties from today, a couple nightmare driveways that have called just today, and get two flat roofs cleared. Given the forecast for more snow Monday, I need to make sure this storm's snow is properly placed, especially on the one way streets in Old Town....... This is State St. Maddies on right.

This past year they replaced all the electric poles with big heavy taller poles and re-rigged the power lines so they very well supported and above all the trees. They also did a lot of heavy trimming. Everyone (except me) was complaining all summer about Nstar putting in eyesores and that they never asked the commission for permission to do that. NSTAR told the commission...we don't ask permission, we do what we want these belong to us and that pissed them off and it was back and forth all summer. I bet they are happy they didn't loose power now. (probably not actually, they are morons). My local 'hood is underground and the cable to the island is underwater so it is only the few miles that we have an issue.

Well I live in Brant Rock. It was bad for a few people I feel bad for but for the most part it wasn't bad at all. We never lost power . The news is really blown it out of proportion . I could I had a nice quiet day listening to the surf and shoveling the driveway but instead I had to listen to news helicopters overhead all day.

Wasn't trying to downplay it in general. I know folks to the east a south of her got hammered. Just couldn't believe that most of W. mass had been forcast for anywhere from 1-3 feet and it was nowhere near that (here). I know it's hard to predict exact amounts and storm path but just making a comment that I was shocked at how far off they were...again, for my area.

3+ hours behind a snow blower back to back days trying to find the cars we knew were parked in the driveway, down by the beach in Plymouth MA was snow drift city. No power for a day either, but getting away from deflate gate was a nice change of pace.

No problem Jenn. I think the way the storm setup had a lot to do with you guys to the West escaping the brunt of the storm. I glad we didn't loose power.

Ross - that must be a friggin nightmare in old town!
We got hit hard in Rockport, lost power for 24 hours. If I was living here permanently I would go out tomorrow and buy a generator and hire an electrician to get a hook up to the main fuse box to keep the heat on - it will be the first winter prep thing I do in a new home.
My neighbor across the street has a generator, which saved all of our asses!

I'd say we got about 2' in the yard and we had drifts about 4 in the driveways. My kids school just called and he's off again tomorrow. We just got our road plowed yesterday afternoon.

I just ordered a single circuit transfer switch for 81$ ( Reliance Controls TF151W 1 Circuit Transfer Switch) that connects my generator directly to my oil furnace and circuation pump. No need to hook up to the cuircuit panel. I have a generator and have run cords into the house for household items, but have never had the ability to run my furnace. With baseboard pipes prone to freezing, im not risking it anymore.

Similar but much less work for me in Plymouth, at least it was lighter and easier to blow through, but the drifts were deeper this time around for sure. My hardest part was backing the damn thing up the steps to get 4 feet of snow off the deck, that was a challenge.

I went the panel route. I just start the generator and plug into the outside receptacle the electrician installed. The whole house is electrified including my furnace and well pump.

Did the same a couple months ago. Generator receptacle installed alongside my fuse box in my garage. Simply plug in and decide on master fuse box which items to turn on.

You guys need to do this:
MANCHESTER-by-the-SEA, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has found a way to profit from the several feet of snow in his yard: He's shipping it to people in warmer climates for the bargain price of $89 for six pounds.
Kyle Waring, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, got the idea while shoveling snow earlier this winter and launched ShipSnowYo.com.
At first he shipped 16.9-ounce snow-filled bottles for $19.99, but he found the snow melted by the time it arrived at its destination.
So he came up with a new plan, selling six pounds at a time. He tells The Boston Globe even if the snow melts a little by the time it arrives, the package can still make 10 to 15 snowballs.
He's also started offering 10-pound packages for $119.
He says he'll keep selling until people stop ordering.

I have had it with snow and effin ice.
Last nite weather men say coating to an inch with no real accumulation. Woke up to 5-6" more white fluffy crap. Manage to blast away with snow blower and not fall as my driveway is an absolute skating rink. Finish. Go to push the snow i brushed off the snowblower off the driveway and take a major digger and dislocate my shoulder again. Fell sunday nite and dislocated it then too. AGONY. Surgery cant come soon enough. Eff fishin and hockey. I just wanna be pain free
So now i am runnin late for work and still have to go do wife s grandmothers house before i go to work and she has to go to dialysis. Stop by a iob site to grab a couple of tools i was gonna need at another job today. Slide on ice pulling into driveway. Cant turn or stop. Smack into granite post at end of narrow driveway. Moosh my 2 yr old bumper in so that it is jammed against tire. Cant drive it. Have already spent 4 hrs with scissor jack and comealong trying to push/ pull it out. So gonna try and have AAA tow it to my brothers in kingston to help since i only got 1 arm. Well tow comany calls and asks if they can do it tomorrow as they r pretty busy????WTF!!!!!??? Now AAA iust called me back while i am typing this and ask if it can wait till tomorrow as say it is gonna be a few hours before they can get any tow company to come get me. Is this a joke????
Gonna take a perk and use the snow for the only thing its good for. Freeze my shoulder.

They need to change wednesday from "hump day" to "crash day"
I am at a job in fallriver for about 25 minutes this morning. Come outside and the tenant is standin on the porch smokin a butt and asks if the big tan chevy truck is mine. I say yeah why?
He says cause it just went sliding down the street and smashed into a parked car which in turn slid and smashed into the next park car. WTF!!!
Sure enough. Mashed in guys POS camry bumper. Even though i had wheels turned in at curb and left 2 spaces between me and him it slid pushed towards the snowbank and just followed it right down the hill like it was on train tracks
Had cops come and he said its what insurance companies call an act of god accident
At least i was able to locate the limited english speakin person who owned the POS. Gonna cost me more than car is worth
2 weds in a row for the front end of my truck takin a beatin
I just cant buy a break
