Best guess but more importantly have spotters and go slow in the area. With so many whales you will get "closer than 500yds" to a couple, no avoiding. If you didn't you would have to shut the entrances to Green Harbor and maybe even Plymouth Harbor.

Buzz ain't kidding...
While zipping back from the Race last summer to Sandwhich harbor...>>full throttle mind you>>.....a big bastard breached right in front of me....did all I could not to piggy-back her and keep myself from going into a full roll-over. Not a laughing matter...
Needless to say...it was a s-l-o-w ride the rest of the way.
Short of not going fast, how do you prepare for something like that? I mean there's really no sign whatsoever if there's any kind of chop to the water....you ain't gonna see her till she breaks the surface....and by then...could be 2-late. Had no safety gear on either....
