Watched a ton of them being caught from shore in Newport this past weekend. Most were a pound or so - perfect for freezing.

Black & Green Friday is what we were calling it!!!....it was an absolute gorgeous day out there, fishing was awesome as was getting some family out on the water while wives wasted their money away...

Only saw a couple of other boaters out there, kind of an eerie feeling seeing all those boats wrapped up or on stands awaiting yet another winter...knowing that mine would soon be joining them

Coast Guard came out and payed a visit too. Thought for sure they were going to board us but the boat on the other side of the can picked the shorter straw. They dropped 2 guys on board and spent the better part of a 1/2 hour on their vessel. After it was all said and done, I gave them the thumbs up and they returned the same, so all was good.

Also saw a couple of canal guys plugging away, nice to see some guys still at it. Thinking that's it for me....time to winterize and hibernate.

Marked a ton of bait out front; probably mostly herring based on the pair trawlers and gannets present, but some dark blobs that were probably mackerel on the sounder. Never dropped a jig as we were focused on Tog. Floated a chunk of pogie most of the day looking for a last Bluefish to smoke, but even with 52 deg water and all the bait, they haven't been around; usually get some beasts out there this time of year... empty smoker... :-(

Saw the usual random late November tuna sighting out there as well as one free-jumped 300yds off the stern....

I am "hearing" that a few mackerel have been caught in Glosta Harbor this week. I am seeing a ton of bait (herring) coming out of the local river and have watched the cormorants come up with some long silvery fish too. Things have definitely started to happen and I am sure there are bass being landed in the usual early spots by now. Heading out this week...
