A friend had a treble go into his hand. He cut it off flush with his hand and went to the ER. By the time he got there the swelling had swallowed up the hook and they had to butterfly his hand to get it out. Never cut a hook close to the skin.

This is the reason I crush the barbs on everything I own. I get hooked multiple times a year........including while hanging plugs up in the cellar.
And, yes, I lose some fish because of it but overall I enjoy fishing much more when I don't need to worry about being badly hooked myself.

100% barbs crushed on all my plugs. I feel like I'm a lot more aggressive grabbing a bass when I know the barbs are crushed too. If it pops off when I can't see it chances are it was not hooked well to begin with.
