I agree with this 100%...

I think the lack of younger "students" hurts as well, most of us that are left here have been there, done that and got the Tee shirt... there is not a lot that we can discuss that hasn't been beat to death when we talk about fishing in general.
With the state of the fishery ( actually all of them) there are fewer exceptional fish to talk about, you can only post pictures of so many 20lb bass before it becomes , dare I say, boring..things have changed greatly in the 55 or so years since I began fishing.. and I'm not talking about techniques , the fish/fishing/ climate ( oops bad word)have changed, but it's a fact, we all have seen it..warm water fish are moving north, cold water fish are disappearing, the fishable ice has retreated north, for most anglers here, dont ice fish, I still do. but I drive 2 hours north to do it.. when I was a youngster, large sea pollock would invade the ocean front fall and winter and again in the spring, not tiny harbor pollock( we used o get those way up river) I'm talking 15 to 20lb ones, the jetties would be lined with b\guys with 12' surf rods h#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g Hopkins and cast masters at the feeding schools... I caught King fish and whiting as well as cod all winter off the surf, I haven't heard of a king fish being caught anywhere in a long time... a lot has changed, there is no denying that, people are gone, some fish are gone too, but what's left here , on this site, is a legacy that needs to be told, everyone still here, has a story to tell... and in their own right are a part of fishing history that needs to be preserved..
