from the IGFA website:

IGFA CERTIFIED SCALES PROGRAM

IGFA offers a great service to its members- scale certification. IGFA will certify small handheld scales for members who ship them to IGFA headquarters.

Most handheld scales have a maximum capacity of 100 pounds or less. IGFA will test these scales using certified weights and send them back to the member with an official report on the test results. The certifications are good for one year from the date of the test.

Since all world record catches must be weighed on scales that are certified accurate, it is sometimes difficult in remote areas to meet this requirement. For this reason, more and more anglers are taking along their own certified scales when fishing in remote areas. Carrying a certified scale makes it possible to weigh and release a catch and still submit it for a world record, provided all other requirements are met. This IGFA service makes it easier for members to find a source for getting their scales certified.

Members wishing to take advantage of this service should ship their scale to IGFA headquarters. There is a charge of $15 per scale, including postage. Major credit cards are acceptable. Scales will be tested and returned with an inspection report promptly.

the full moon looks orange sometimes when it rises because the light has to pass through more of the atmosphere then when the moon is higher in the sky. the blue light waves scatter but the red light waves pass through...... if you were wondering.
