John, You da Man He not only created this site, but has done a great job as it has grown. He also does an outstanding job as "head moderator".

I remember being laid up in January of 2001 with a knee injury and lurking on the site every day.
My first friend was Mr. Sprinkles...back then I used to be afraid of talking to Mr. Manzi, who at the time was known as BM...he used to write to me in code and harass me for fishing with herring.
Everybody on the board has been great, they put up with my crazy brother, my awful divorce, and my super pictures...Guess good food can even out a lot of mediocre posts!!!
Favorite friends include Patrick...Tuna from shore!!!
Striper swiper X...I think that was his name!!!
Fishweewee...and his many incarnations.
chris L the nicest hippie I ever met!
Larry...who I see every time I'm at the cape.
BBJ...I don't see so much now!
Bazza...my first lacrosse coach, even though he doesn't remember.
Jimbo, Bombardier brother number three.
Anyhow, many other great friends that I would have never met if it wasn't for Senor Redmond!!!
Anyhow,
Later,
Rick
PS-And all the WMass crew...Jenn, Lapinski, Lajoie, and the reel chitty guys...and Russ the nightfighter.
Later,
Rick

What Mike said.
It really is like hanging out at your local B&T for a cup of coffee, a smoke and a session with the boys.
I've met some quality people from this site and while work occasionally interferes with my time at S-B, it's a great way to stay up on issues and info on a real time basis every day.
As a card-carrying old phart who was new to the Interweb not so very long ago, it's really become a part of my daily routine as a surfcaster.
Thumbs up to John - damned good crew we got here and the Cap runs a tight ship
God knows it ain't easy with this bunch

I second this (or third or fourth or whatever it's up to now)
I've met and fished with alot of class acts due to this place.
John, thanks for making this the best site on the net

Aye, JohnR runs a tight ship around here, and his many mates do a good job of keeping the atmosphere around here a little down to earth.
I've been on a few other sites, but nothing keeps me coming back for more like this s-b.com website.
I've met Notaro, a fellow deaf fisherman, through this, and while he and I haven't had a chance to fish too much together, I think we've forged quite a nice friendship via our sidekicks.
And around here, JohnR is god but the funny thing is, he doesn't try to be one but everyone worships the ground he walks on, or was it the treacherous rocks?

Nice place, I've been hanging around since the site was running on a box in John's apartment, probably since about day two.
Been through the rises and ebbs, but we always rise. Met and fished with some great people, learned to appreciate what I've got and that fishing while great isn't the only thing that makes life worth living.

No, no god at all, just trying to do the right thing and strike the right balance on a website with my fellow anglers....
There is too much negativity in the world and not enough fun, good natured pranks, and I think it is necessary to have a way to enjoy fishing for all of us. Where fishing is our passion, our release, the start of a lot of enjoyment...
