Does that mean that as the slide comes forward to chamber the next round, it is automatically dropping the firing pin to discharge the round?

If so Chris, I WOULD NOT shoot that gun. Very unsafe. I'd be on the horn real quick with both the dealer and Kimber themselves to let them know of my dissatisfaction and concern for them producing such a pricy and unsafe product.

Proably give you a few nice t-shirts when they replace the gun. Tell them you want a different/ new gun. Don't accept to have them repair it for free. Sounds like to me that the pistol has some serious issues.
