I bought two bags of the 80lb clips at Mike's on Wednesday. He had two bags left (10 count I believe) he had two bags left. I bought a bunch from him in the fall so I am stocked for the next year at least. He said they have been backordered since January and he is trying his best to get them. He is trying for 1000 count bags. I hope they come thru. He is out of the smaller 35 lb. ones. I couldn't think of using anything else again.

Why even try.........

I would jump on a 1000 count bag if I had the chance! These are possibly the best addition to my surf arsenal in a LONG time.

Yea I need to score in bulk as well. Maybe I'll just stake out Flaptails house I did a little research and got mixed reviews. For throwing plugs in the surf it looks like most people use the 35# clips. What are the 80# clips used for? Thanks for any input.

I use the 30's on light tackle and the 80's on my big swimmers and jigging the canal. 30's are perfect for plugging the beach with Yo's, etc.

Why even try.........

Do you use the large size with bigger top water plugs like the big howdy, sea spook or 3 Oz pencil poppers too?

I guess I'm more curious as to whether or not you use the breakaway snaps during daylight hours.

I have exclusively used the 35# clips. In about 1.5 seasons of use, only one has failed. I use them jigging, plugging, topwater, whatever. The one that failed was attatched to a jig which became attatched to a rock. I have had my leader or my main line break before the clips on all other snags. One of my fishing partners uses the larger ones only. the only reason is he isn't as youngs as I am and has a hard time seeing the small clips...
