Charlie Murat, Dave Hammock, The Pergo brothers. George Heavey, #^&#^&#^&#^&y Conoyer and the others from the old Murats in No. Smithfield RI. They fished the Backbeach the right way back in the 70s. I fished with most of them and those guys could fish. 2 or 3 days straight with no sleep. Boy we did a number.  |

You know, George Calzone's name should be on the list. i fished with George and he was 80 then. I think he is in his mid to high 80s now and still fishing the Back. Got a 63 lber to his credit.

Patrick,
I would have to say Ted Williams and my Dad. Both are heros, Ted being a Marine Corp fighter pilot who loved his country and unfortunately the man who taught me how to fish can not go up a few stairs. This is due to years of cigarette smoking and now he is paying the price. If I could have just one day on the water with him again, I would cherish it forever.

i voted steve van stall and #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&. with steve, i thought that i might get a good exercise. as for #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&, maybe watching him might improve my eeling skills.
however, i would like to fish with crazy alberto and BM. he is a diehard.
i would like to fish down the cape and rocky shore on RI.

I'm a young guy but I have read lots about the good old days when monster bass were caught every day.
Sergey de Somov: is mentioned in "Reading the Water" by Robert Post. He was one of the best bass fisherman ever. He won the MV derby three consectutive years in a row between 1963-1965 with 52, 54,and 49 lbs bass he won again in 1969 with a 51 lb bass.
No one ever really got to fish with him. He was rumored to use lobster tails amoungst other things. He also would pick up his tackle and leave in the middle of a blitz if another fisherman was around. I'm certain he could have taught me a thing or two about pulling slobs from the surf.

I wish I had a mentor, because my Enthusiasm and drive is there, but I do spend many a night getting skunked and wandering beaches quessing rather than knowing where to go
I have never fished Block island (hope to get down this fall) but I'm going to nominate The isle of Martha's Vineyard in this debate but I'm openly biased.

I fished with Coleman in the Keys - he's a quiet "actions speak louder than words" kinda guy.
Fished with Milt Rosko last summer on an overnight cod trip - he's truely a statesman of the sport.

I would most like to fish with old friends who for one reason oranother 9usually family) have no time to fish anymore or who i have lost track of over the years. I really couldn't care less about fishing with celebrities but if i had to pick some people , it would be stetzko and chirappo.
