There is a lot of fraud related to eBay. I've rcvd fraudulent offers to buy things that I've bid on but lost. Thieves send you an e-mail to tell you that the winner has backed out and the item is now available to you at your bid price, but they ask you to pay via wire. Of course I never took them up on the offer but I can see how someone might. I've reported this to eBay and rcvd very little response from them. Don't trudst any solicitations that appear to be from eBay.

happened to an uncle of mine. got those e-mails and gave his info again and wham, 3 grand worth of motorcycle stuff on his credit card. idiot had the stufff all sent to his own house up in n.h. and the cops bagged him. last month ebay sent me some e-mails saying that they think someone got into my account. they were right, someone was trying to sell a tractor in my name. they cancelled the auction and nearly my account. i had to talk online with someone from ebay to figure it out. i asked how this could happen and they said that there are programs that follow my online patterns and keystrokes. basically, that it wasn't their fault and they are totally secure. i'm thinking of getting out all together, i'll just use a friend's account if i ever bid on a car again. i really can't stand these types of people! so please, all be careful.

Just Say NO

You get an unsolicited email from EBay or PayPal, ignore it, delete it. If you are worried about your account, then log into either one of them, check your account information and 'MY EBAY' to make sure nothing is being sold or bid on and then change your password.

Passwords should be changed monthly, regardless of the hassle of trying to remember it. I write them down in a little steno pad I keep near the puter.

Use passwords that don't relate to your SSN, Birthdate, Family Member names, Social Security Number etc. I use incidents from the past like year and country while in military or special memory month/name/year ie., 07victoria1963. Stuff like that. Nobody knows that info but you.

freakin EBAY

it's very pervasive within our society...i decided to avoid it early on and despite never having an ebay account or ever doing ebay transactions i get those emails
weekly and always hit-> "message" / block sender.

i try to do business the old fashion way with my eyes, hands on, and a handshake afterward if possible , otherwise i dont really need it that bad.

Last time I borrowed something I was the one that actually rcvd it. I think that is the kicker that it's a fraud attempt.

So who's Victoria Sarge and What happened in July of 63? ;-)

My rule is that I never give information to anyone who contacts me first. If the phone company calls and asks me about my account , I tell them sorry , i will call you call you back at the number on my bill. Regardless of who it is , I don't give out info if they initiate the contact.

Since the other half frequents this board also, I regret to inform you that information is restricted and shall not be put forth for general viewing.
