Simple Kind of Man - Shinedown......Used that one for a Scout Graduation Presentation...I think it blows Skynard's version away. also think it speaks right to what we're trying to instill in the kids.

I'd have to agree with the Allman Bros version of "Stormy Monday".
Stevie Ray's "Voodoo Chile" comes to mind as well.
James Taylor's versions of just about any other songwriters material, including, but not exclusive to, Carol King's "You've Got a Friend" and Buddy Holly's "Everyday".
Beatles' version of "Twist And Shout".
Hendrix version of "Watchtower".
The list goes on and on, to be sure.
Sometimes, though, there's just no way to improve on the original: "Turn The Page".
