Not too early to get ready !!!!
I have a V-Bar to make up yet, and I have one BIG spreader bar ready to go with the various stingers I made.

Bummer about the macs. (But I still have a secret spot or two)

Lookin to take a couple of days at the end of the week. (Back permiting.)

Got to make more chum in me grinder too....

I think bars are the way to go. Bigger presentation to draw the fish up. A bar in essence is 3 or 5 chains run in tandem. Chains catch but so do bars. When commotion and visual display is at a premium offshore the bar is hard to beat. A chain WWB off the center rigger is a great choice though.

Saltwater Edge (Sponsor) sells complete bars, with bag for $69.

Not much more than what the components cost retail, and cheaper than alot of other shops.
