I have yet to catch a fish on any plastic eel imitation thingies. I have not tried "stinky" yet.

I use one for the first time up on the Cape, white 10" no added weight, fished it like a jerk bait, cast well, had one good take and drop the fish, felt good thou. Looked great in the water, big fish bait for sure. Chris

I have come to the conclusion that there is no wrong way to rig them... lead in the belly, a lead head, lead shoved in the head.... it all works
