THe best I ever did was a lamiglass 963m custom made into a trolling rod. I have two matching for the boat.
I am not sure what the replacement for the lami is.

Thanks for the recommendations, Guys. I'll try those rods and those two knots.

Bill you may also want to try this knot.
Remove around 5 inches of the lead core then feed your leader into the hollow spot until you hit the lead. then just tie an overhand knot.

I know the rule is remove the lead, but I tied a few knots in the basement with the lead in and out. Pulling with a spring scale, I found leaving the lead in was a stronger knot.
It don't make sense, but thats what I found, so now I leave the lead in. Try it both ways. Oh and I tie something like a double bimini, one line tied on the other. Its not a knot you will find online, its passed down from generations.....just experient and find the best for your set-up.

With all the fishing crap I have I didn't have any lead core set ups and last season needed a set up "yesterday". So I took a older penn sitting in its box brought it into the the shop and said, put some leadcore on this. It worked OK but I could not get two spools of lead core on there. How much lead can you get on the 330GTI? Do you have backing or do you just load as much of the leadcore as possible?

FISHON is a big leadcore guy now
