The chocolate and soda thing I have no problem with(we limit that stuff as it is), it's the no spinach and nuts that bothers me. She doesn't eat meat(except for chicken) and gets a lot of her protien from nuts and peanut butter. And unlike most kids, she loves spinach. She saw a nephrologist(sp?) today and she's going to help work out a diet plan as soon as they know exactly what caused the stone.

As to the POS collapsible cup, see if they won't give you a regular funnel with the screen. We got one for home and one for school from the urologist just by asking. If all else fails, you could always line a regular funnel with cheesecloth or something like it to catch the stone.

Since the stone is in your kidney still, the lithotripsy should do the trick on the first shot . She's going for her second blast on Wednesday morning and they sounded pretty confident about it this time. At least it has moved some since the first treatment. Unfortunately no dice on the Tramadol, the doc said nothing stronger than tylenol since she's so small(only 48#). Nothing worse than seeing your kid in so much pain and not being able to help her feel better. I hope you get better soon. I know the whole ordeal has taken at least 10 years off my life and I'm not even the one with the stone. Keep us up to date on what's going on, I've been telling my kid that someone else is going through the same thing as she is and it seems to help her feel better knowing she's not alone with it. She sends her wishes for a speedy recovery.

jklett,

Tell you're little one we're all pulling for her and wishing her success on the next try for the stone, there'll be a little something extra in the prayers tonight for her to get a little pain relief from above.

She sounds pretty tough for a little one, just tell her that yes it hurts alot right now but just think how good its going to feel once its out.

Tight lines and prayers.

Insanity is a long and winding road ... I think I finally made it there.

thank your sweet daughter for me....for her get well wish and tell her i sent her a get well soon hug....from Raven, she sounds so sweet...
48 pounds... wow... she's quite young....yeah!....for tramadol, even in a reduced dosage for children....so thats tough... hopefully she love's Orange juice . unfortunately Nuts are one of those foods that are high in oxalate so she needs to expand her protien choices beyond chicken somehow.

maybe the nutritionist.....can suggest a protien powder to mix with yogurt as a supplimental source of protien. Also remind your daughter
that she has taste buds on her tounge that are completely replaced
every 7 years so that her taste preferences will change as she gets older. One of the fun things about life is experimenting with different foods to see if you might like them when prepared in different ways.

i did by the way get some nifty funnels from the nurse yesterday after going to the outpatient pre -testing for blood work.
