The MA record was caught right @ where I striper fish on the CT in the spring. I think it was over 40#. I typically snag about one a year by accident. They fight a lot better then they look like they would!

Down in South Florida, a type of Asian carp has been imported to thin the canals of weeds, etc. A friend in Ft Lauderdale discovered that these carp often go crazy over what is falling off the trees.

He tied flies that look like mullberries and caught carp above 15 pounds - on 4-wt and 6-wt flies. It's fun, once and a while.

You ever see many of those English women? No wonder they treat carp like gold!

Wow look at the belly on that thing, we fish for them here and get good sized ones but nothing that big. We go to Market basket and buy Market Basket Brand Quick oats and make balls and have a blast.

Talking it was an event

i cast upstream under the bridge at newton lower falls

with a heavy hook with a stinky home made doughball for bait.

a huge carp eats it on the third cast and proceeds down

river.... (this is in the charles river BTW)
so now i am totally thrilled and run
up the bank to the top of the bridge still running and passing
my rod around the front of the light poles while fighting it
trying to get to the other side thats better for landing a fish.

well...........
i was so damned excited i jumped over the railing a bit to early when
reaching the other side and went tumbling down the embankment
and just luckilly grabbing my rod before it got towed into the river.

it took awhile to reel that sucker back up to where a friend
of mine was waiting with a huge net... and he scoops up
the carp which was so freakin heavy it broke right thru the net
hit the water now un- hooked and swam away....
