I have a 120 1L that I cut about 9" off the butt. I had read an article by John Skinner a while back, and this was the setup for his eel rod. I'm sure I have a copy of the article if you want it. I used the rod a couple of times this year with smaller plugs and I can't wait to try it with sluggo's.

the 120 1L w/ 12" taken from the butt is an amazing stick. At least 2 people I know swear by it. It's a great 9' rod in ways that the 108 1M and 108 1L aren't, still tough enough to throw the heavier stuff if need be. Pair a cut-down 10L w/ a VS200 and you've got nearly a perfect stick for walking the sand beaches throwing 2.5oz and below.

I have been seriously thinking about one of these rods for a while...and stumbled on this old thread.
I had heard about shortening the butt, but the 4" tip trim sounds interesting.

How is the circumcised version throwing light? (plastics...lightly weighted rubbah..etc.)

" the fisherman taking a great cod line to which he fasteneth a peece of lobster and threwes it into the sea. The rockfish biting at it, he pulls her to him and knockes her on the head with a sticke."
