Very basic. Improved clinch knot to the barrel swivel and to a Breakaway clip on the other end. I like 30-36" leaders. And a big enough swivel to grab onto to land a fish without slicing your hands.

Basic is best when you have to re-tie often due to abrasion, which happens a lot in the Canal. Even when you're not hanging up.

I use the UNI knot on everything, It's the knot I know and can tie
fowards and backwards , fits through guides for direct tie line 2 line.

36" leader either 30# or 50# Ande leader material. A 130# Spro power swivel tied with a polmar knot on one end. For plugging I either put a coastlock snap on the other end or nothing so I can tie direct. For my eeling leaders I put an Eagle Claw L2004EL non-offset circle hook on with a polmar knot.
