A portable charger for the truck for those areas that have free internet when your battery is going low. There are web sites that explain how to hook up remotely to their free internet.

The battery is a good question in itself.

I've heard both :
1. always leave it plugged in
2. unplug it often to let the battery drain just about all the way.

I let my battery drain. My hopes are this prevents it from getting memory.

yeah I always unplug mine and run the battery down. Then I charge it back up again. I've had this laptop for four years now and the battery is still decent--about 1.5 hours of time when not hooked to a plug.

I know laptops that I have had always have benefited from using the battery and running it down all the way about once a week. Compaq even suggested that the battery be removed from the unit if it was going to be plugged in all the time. I have seen too many people that never used their batteries or rather only very rarely used them, and when they went to use them they were capable of running the laptop only a few minutes before shutting off.

Good luck with the new laptop.

I would keep the computer plug into the ac source. However once I begin to use the battery as the power source then I let the battery completely discharge before charging up.
