I could see leaving an 11 year old home if she shows enough maturity and knowing how to respond to an emergency situation. It seems to me she was very capable.

Can't believe how the focus switches to the parents leaving her alone . Like they were asking for it .I smell the old blame the victim ... Alot of kids are spending time at home alone with the norm being 2 parents working .

Good for the girl being able to defend herself from those 2 thugs, they deserve to be dead being murderers that they were.
Likwid, don't ya think it's futile to charge a dead person for not locking up his weapon? how is he supposed to be responsible for that? they killed him and took his gun
I get your point but this thread is not the place to make that point, it doesn't even fit here.
Anyway, good for the girl

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

As bad as I'd feel that my 11 yo daughter had to do that, I'd feel a lot worse if those to psychos had gotten to her.

11 is about the age we started letting my son stay home for a little bit.....give him a little responsibility. Not talking about going to foxwoods for the weekend but maybe run to the grocery store for an hour.
think back when you were 11....head out into the neighborhood for hours....only stipulation was to be home before the street lights went on

This story is making the rounds on many web sites lately, however it appears to be fake.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...+gone+wrong%22
It supposedly took place in 2006 and the report is credited to a NRA newletter but there is no mention of the event in any of the Montana newspapers or any other news source.
Even if it's fiction, it's a good story!

all I can say is this is a truly amazing story, for an 11 year old to actually shoot and kill these two batids in self defense shows a lot of maturity and poise under pressure that most adults probably wouldn't exhibit in that kind of situation. It's stories like this that make me want to own guns and I believe this is the kind of situation our founding fathers had in mind when they gave us the right to bear arms, that is, somebody coming into your home and tyring to kill your family.

Not trying to pin this on the parents - just asking if 11 is kinda young for that - that's all...
There are a few kids that are probably responsible enough but some 18 year olds that shouldn't be trusted...
But like I said, I'm not there yet, my son is 6

Not murder
Adamfishes, as opposed to the 11 year old being raped repeatedly or murdered like her neighbor I think she'll be able to live with the alternative. She did not commit murder. It was a legal homicide, but not murder.

Wow. All I meant was that it was a crappy situation and the outcome was not good. It could have been a LOT worse. Come on you think I'm on the side of the perp here? Seriously get a grip all I was saying is that regardless she is going to be a bit messed up in the head because of these events. But thanks for the name calling I apreciate that!
I think John had the best point with, why was she left alone.....
