Out on the cape there are distinct smells when you can tell it's bass. Lately though all I smell out there is seal breathe and believe me, there is a difference in that smell, they wreak.

people tell me i'm crazy when i tell 'em i can tell if there are bass or blues around by telltale beach "smells" ... but it's true if you've put enough time on the water.
You can smell them ... but in the past few years, hasn't been as frequent or reliable for fishing action ... but it's time on the water like referenced above, that makes the difference.
