Gambling, what a joke. When it was considered in Joisey, it was supposed to reduce taxes,

help defray the cost of education, help the elderly, and rebuild the infrastructure of Atlantic City.

Since it's inception, Joisey has an income tax, a 7% sales tax, a defecit in the teacher's pension fund

and Atlantic City looking like Hiroshima after the A bomb.

Was down for a boat show sitting at a counter having a cup of coffee next to a Philadelphia cop with tears in his eyes.

Guy was hooked, drove down every nite after his shift, in horrible debt loosing his family and everything he had.

A decent guy with prolly 100,000 others like him suffereing in some way or another. The people who can least afford it go,

including the enticement of the senior citizens with a free bus ride and a stipened to gamble.

Now they have tv adds for gamblers anonymous. The only winners are the casino owners and the people behind them.

If it sounds too good to be true it is.

But the herd will follow anyway, thinking that this time it will be different. Dopes.

I remember them saying the same thing about the Lottery when it first came out, back in the days when the NH Sweepstakes was the only legal lottery around. How's that worked out with the state getting all of the cut?

If they were really serious about people blowing their hard-earned cash, they'd cap Lotto purchases at $20. How often have you stood in line for 10 minutes at Cumbies while some guy who got out of a beat-up 87 Lumina with a R sticker blew $50 on numbers and scratch tickets?

People in debt? Something new? Before they had casino markers, they owed it to Louie the Nose. Every corner drug store or newspaper stand took action on what they called the "n-word pool", which was determined by reading down the hundred dollar column in the daily race track handle figures published in the Record-American. It took me years to find out why my uncles purchased the Record religiously even though they lived in RI. Many still owe a Shy, like the guys who want to bet sports.
