Splash Date
Hey all,
I'm probably getting ahead of myself here but I was just wondering when everyone was splashing their boats this year. I'm on the south side of the cape and I'm thinking May 1st, although I'd like to go tomorrow. What are you guys doing?

Paul - congrats on the retirement!
I am planning on getting my boat in the water mid-april. A few scouting trips and then the serious fishing will begin early May.

It'll be a year next month. Flew almost 200,000 miles last year and I am tired. Cancer is still with me although I live with it, it wears me down occasionally. I'm 60 years old and been on the road for almost 40 of them. Time to take some time and smell the roses. I'll end up doing something probably part time but I am going to take some R and R and fish.

I'm on the trailer and am ready to go at a moments notice like a Minuteman. I thought we'd have some nice 40-60 degree days but so far there have not been many. As soon as the first 40 degree weekend comes and the seas lay down, I'll be out somewhere, fishing.

April 30th is normally the first shakedown trip. There were huge bluefish in Buzzards Bay at that time. I didn't manage to get into the seabass bite in the upper bay tho, it was really was short.

I trailer and usually do a few early season runs in April. Hoping the same timeframe this year or a little earlier.

Aiming for mid April, but with the last maintenance tasks to do it will probably be the end of April.
Try to get some personal cod trips in before the tackle shop gets cranked up for the season and the bass and tuna charters start lining up.
