Windows isn't free. You want to upgrade to the latest version you gotta pay.No microsoft product comes without some type of string attached. You being a gamer I would imagine you buy new hardware and/or a machine every couple of years? That costs money.
Windows is a beast that consumes a computer's resources. The OS takes up a ton of space and memory.Never mind all the other AV and spyware programs needed to protect it.
The insane amount of housekeeping that needs to be done to keep it running.Defrag, after market progs to get rid of useless unused files like out of date reg keys and index.dat files to name just a few.
Then you have the hardware/software conflicts. You might not get that "blue screen of death" anymore but you still gotta hit the 'ol ctrl/alt/del to bring up task manager so you can end that program that's "not responding".
I'm so glad to be free of Windows.
And the community based support for Ubuntu is awesome. There's always literally hundreds(if not thousands)of people online at any given time of day in the support forums who can answer and solve any question. You'll never get that from Microsoft.
