Striped Bass magazine is mostly targeted toward fresh water stripers. I've never read it and can't speak to how good it is though.

When I traveled with my old job to KS I searched thru the fish & game dept website for fisheries. In the mid west most of the fresh water is reservoir type lakes formed by dams constructed by the Army Corp of Engineers. I found out about a species called Wipers. They took the striped bass eggs and fertilized them with white bass. The wiper was very fun too catch and put up a ridiculous fight on fresh water gear. They weren't over 22". I would have him check out the fish & game website for species info.

I think that magazine is defunct now. I went to their site and it's just some links to other FW SB orgs, so I sent him that.

Yup, thought of that but I know Bernzy had some serious health issues for a while. I do have his old cell # and addy, don't know if they're still valid. You can PM me if ya know, ITS.
