Tacoma w/ truck box, so I had to come up with something, since the angled racks (which I like) stuck way back from my truck...
Two PVC rod holders bolted to the top of my cooler. this is ~10" higher than my tailgate. Other end of the cooler has a 2x4 with foam and a bungee across it. Keeps the tips from dancing. Works on my softest glass rods. They hang out a few feet, but are higher than most other vehicles..
