What it is, is a reminder that those people don't like us, and unless we do something we will never be safe. It has already been proven that you can not have peace with them. This is because they have no unification in the sense that there are so many differant factions. Every time there is a cease fire called on by the Israeli's and the PLO, the extremist nut jobs start lobbing morters, missles bombs , and the damn kitchen sink. They do not want peace, no matter what, even if you give them everything they want...

There's so much wrong with this rant I'm not sure where to begin.

Blending together a billion and a half people, the vast vast majority of whom don't hold violent extremist views, and labeling them all extremist is not just ignorant it's racist.

There are some radical Muslims who do want you think think there's a giant army of jihadis breathing down your neck. They want you to spread this fear to your friends. They want you to be afraid of them, because when you're afraid, they are empowered.

This isn't about PC, it's about reality. If you paint a distorted picture of the problem, you're likely to get distorted solutions and responses. To date the bulk of our foreign policy post 9/11 has been directed by tinfoil hat wearing neocons and electorial politics rather than rational thought, experience or proven methods. Some have chosen to eat it up simply because it's anti-Left rather than take a few moments to actually assess the value.
