Fished what I thought would be an ideal fall night last night, but the fish didn't show. The night before seemed considerably less ideal, but the fish were there, and heavy.

Beyond that, if I had to choose conditions, I'd go with stiff onshore wind, heavy water that hasn't silted up yet, and either a full or new moon to keep the current running strong.
