It was huge over here too - Ruggles Avenue and Tuckerman's Reef were a solid 8' with offshores and the outer reef at Ruggles was probably 10-12. That place has almost no limit on the size of swell it can handle.

Kevin from Edwards told me he went out for blackfish yesterday morning and it was 12-15' out on Haycock Ledge

That's a little too lumpy for me and where I draw the line.

The swell hadn't diminished very much as of last night either - full of silt, seaweed and that #$##*&# fine mung - couldn't fish the spots I'd planned so I just packed it in.

Gonna go check them again in a little while for a short session maybe before work - the end here in Newport is near - gonna have to start that trek across the bridge after this one passes, I'm afraid.

Time to pack up the fish-wagon

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
