I'm no master, but I extended mine 2" (because I'm an idiot and built the butt too short). It was pretty simple. You just need a broken blank of somewhat similar taper (doesn't have to be exact, I had a snapped GSB96m that worked ). Cut a section to slide up inside the butt of your new rod 4-5", you can adjust for any difference in taper with a few wraps of tape on one end, rough things up, and use a good epoxy. Trim to final length after it dries (don't cut it to length first because it will slide further inside the rod when lubricated with epoxy than while dry-fitting). Put a layer of cork tape on to bring it back up to the same diameter as your original blank, then overwrap with another layer. Pretty easy to slide a foam grip on instead if you prefer. Be glad to help if you want.......though I'm sure you can find someone better.
