I just went on Ebay and ordered a Holstein Cow. The milk ain't free so I figured with the "Big Storm" and all! Heck, it can mow my lawn if this turns out to be a poor prognostication!

thankyou Dave

Canal man is right on target--> a voice of reason at last

haven't you noticed how many volcano's are happening over seas lately???

i have.........

the volcano erupting in Alaska will be a contributing factor i'm sure...

with global warming you have essentially global melting......
more fresh water sitting on top of salt water equals more evaporation which equals more precipitation or rainfall

We have been lulled into a false sense of security concerning
our weather patterns for the last 25 years i'd say...
that may be about to change.... <---

i can remember a storm in the late 50's where the snow was up to the second story window sill of our house out in the back....
these youngins have no concept other than the storm of "78 "

~ but
of course the same thing can be said about hurricanes
and the big one in 38 didn't teach us a dammed thing
we did not learn.... we are sitting ducks with so many homes on our coastline now,,,,

i know you find it hard to believe that the "Boy crying WOLF"

the biggest art prankster here ....could actually be right- i dunno ??
and hey...i can't blame you...

but, i couldn't have a clear conscience if i had never said anything
especially if i learned someone not prepared had died.....

i was told this by a very serious native American Indian

so - what's it gonna hurt?

to have some extra cans of beans
bottled water, steaks, and necessities in the house or flash lights
with working batteries HUH?

i live this survival business every single damn day ...
and when i sit in front of my wood stove in a burnt rocking chair
i can still see my breath in these frigid temperatures.

i always say ...what if... and look at the worst case scenario

half the wood is in - a 1/2 cord or so...

ok back to work

Rav, when it comes to weather events, believe me, I take the world serious -

Outside of old fish pictures, the other thing I collect is stuff regarding the '38 Hurricane - I've got the actual ProJo printed on September 22, 1938, it's amazing to read it - and I grew up hearing that stuff from my parents and the rest of my family and their friends here in Newport.

And no, wisenheimer, I wasn't there at the time...

But I do remember Carol in '54 and it scared the crap out of me as a little kid - some pretty vivid memories for a 5 year old going around with my dad after it passed -

Missed the '78 Blizzard, though - I had just driven to FL with a buddy that week and the day it hit I was sitting in Palm Beach nursing a sunburn and drinking a cold beer...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
