Rav, when it comes to weather events, believe me, I take the world serious -

Outside of old fish pictures, the other thing I collect is stuff regarding the '38 Hurricane - I've got the actual ProJo printed on September 22, 1938, it's amazing to read it - and I grew up hearing that stuff from my parents and the rest of my family and their friends here in Newport.

And no, wisenheimer, I wasn't there at the time...

But I do remember Carol in '54 and it scared the crap out of me as a little kid - some pretty vivid memories for a 5 year old going around with my dad after it passed -

Missed the '78 Blizzard, though - I had just driven to FL with a buddy that week and the day it hit I was sitting in Palm Beach nursing a sunburn and drinking a cold beer...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
