i hear ya Eben, and that's why i framed the question
from a landing and re-hooking perspective.

seems to me that by re-hooking~~ with a "dropping" rod at the ready and either with a snag hook, a single hook, a treble, or by using rubbercore sinkers to get the bunker down~~ you would afford yourself the opportunity of a cleaner hookset, simply because you KNOW where the hook is and you DO NOT know where the hook is when "snagging and dropping" as i NOW understand it.

DJ, i'm not trying to fan the flames, and thanks for setting me straight on what is meant when this very effective method is employed. should make for a VERRRY interesting Spring around the NShore.
