it's true, cheaters will be cheaters.... maybe OTW should launch an extensive investigation into all fish over 50 before awarding the truck!
they could get the guys from Law and Order Criminal Intent

Kind of funny re: the multiplier.

A 50lb boat fish @ 1.2 = 60lb
A 40lb boat fish @ 1.2 = 48

A 50lb boat fish at 1.18 = 59lb
A 40lb boat fish at 1.18 = 47.2

Kind of a token gesture, no?

hence,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

my idea a few weeks ago to AGREE
amongst ourselves to configure our teams
ALL shore, or ALL boat. thereby removing the
possibility, among HONEST anglers, of switching the fish!!

it just seems to make sense to me,
perhaps EVEN more so, now?

For most of my fishing life(30 plus years), I never entered a contest. After competitive fishing for the last three years I'm convinced it's really a fool's game. Any time there's monetary incentive involved in fishing, whether its commercial sale of fish or prizes, there will be bad behavior/cheating, etc. involved. The token prizes and so called "acclaim" one gets for winning are really meaningless in the big picture and prove nothing. I'm happy for the guys who honestly participated and did well, but you can keep the contests as they're all tainted, IMO.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Most people will not agree with this statement, but I really think the only fair way to run a contest of this size, is to do so under the assumption that everyone is going to cheat.

In many contests over the years you always heard of "shore" fish coming off the boats. Caught before the contest. Fish full of "bait", eating lead, etc. And now you have have "shore" guys swimming out to reefs and rocks wanting to fish like the boat guys.

I say run the contest with no holds barred. Nets, TNT, draggers, purse seiners whatever you want, it's all good. All fish will be gutted and all bait, lead, rocks, and bricks removed. Winning fish and prize money fish will be xrayed. Heaviest pile of fish meat left over wins.
