Eh, I don't think so. Spring break was back in March. The virus should have had more than enough time to completely incubate and show its presence a few weeks ago.

I think we are actually fortunate the virus is popping up now. If this had started appearing a month or two ago while we were in the midst of flu season, all our domestic medical resources and facilities would be stretched to the max by anyone with a sniffle.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090427/...luZWZsdWZlYXI-

NEW YORK – Esti Lamonaca's illness started with a high fever, a cough and achy bones, just a couple of days after she returned from a spring break trip on the beach in Cancun with friends. By the weekend, her voice was hoarse and she was wearing a surgical mask.

The 18-year-old senior is one of at least eight students at her New York City high school who health officials say have been sickened by a strain of swine flu suspected in the deaths of 103 people in Mexico. It has now spread to the United States, where authorities have confirmed 20 cases.

I do stand corrected though....they were Prep Kids not College Kids

Put down the crack pipes and stop falling for media sensationalism.

Q. Can swine flu be fatal?

A. Just like the regular flu, swine flu worsens pre-existing medical conditions in people. So people with already compromised immune systems can die after contracting it.

Q. But doesn't the common flu kill more people?

A. Yes, common seasonal flu kills 250,000 to 500,000 people every year. But what worries officials is that a new strain of the flu virus can spread fast because people do not have natural immunity and vaccines can take months to develop.
