About 7AM I was plugging Wollaston and
a lobster stye boat made its way through the moorings. At first I thought it might be a charter looking for tuna bait. Came within 2-300 yards of the beach and made a set. Seemed to know right where he wanted to drop the net. Must have got some because I saw buckets passed between them and a couple of center consoles. Someone must have reported him because during the second set an official looking boat pulled up beside and shortly afterward he was steaming toward Long Island. Hope it was more than a warning given. The "I didn't know" defense shouldn't fly.

A bottomless pit of bum information/ Death makes memories of us all...

Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law. Those guys seem to know exactly what the laws are and how much they can skirt them.

They aren't stoopid, they just take advantage of the laxity of enforcement

Last Saturday morning there was a Seiner that showed up inside Winthrop Harbor and did a set in the Mooring Field. From what I heard he did damage to his net after getting caught in abandoned moorings and traps.

EP's did show up before he steamed out. Not sure what was giving out for a fine if any. I have not see him since.

I agree with Luds. I wish poagies would disappear. It was so much better when bass were scrounging in the rocks, all day and all night.
