Nice Rob, ty.
I circled the spot that should not be passed .This looks like it could easily fool you and lull you into going out further.

I may as well add my name to the list of guys who learned thier lesson on that bar.
I was out at the North Rip for the first time.I had been warned by Henry Hetu.
I waded out to about the distance in that picture.I was in water maybe a little over knee height.I was catching blues and bass, having a ball.Waves were coming in from both sides. Before I knew it the water was taking my feet out from under me.I lost my balance, was upended by my air filled waders, regained my balance and got hit right in the chest by wave.
I managed to get back in.Wet and scared.I agree with all here.Never take this place lightly.

Don't get hung up on the North Rip as the premier Block Island surf spot - it's not. People tend to equate danger with great fishing - it's often true, but not so much with this spot.

If you stop in Twin Maples notice the newspaper article on the wall with the guy holding a bluefish. He lost his life at the north rip.

Not that day but I have only fished a couple times, it's a long walk and there are alot better places that are easier to get to
