Stiffy,

The canal is a real big place...I mean, there's 12 plus miles of shoreline...could you be more specific (pole #'s, tides, etc.) so I'm not chasing my tail too much?

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Fished the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake for peacock bass a few years ago. Very fun! And yes, the bass are running now in the Panama canal

the Ditch was packed this AM mid canal...I had a guy 40+ yards to my left, and barely 40 yards to my right...hardly enough room to cast...

few fish on top this morning, took a couple of shorts on a pencil, had a few more bumps, didn't see much catching...

reminds me of the song

There's something happening here

What it is ain't exactly clear

There's a man with a Rod over there

Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop fishermen happening-here-l
what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn

Nobody's right if everybody's wrong

Young people loosing their minds

Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat

A thousand people on the Canal

Singing about seals and carrying signs

Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

city hall strikes deep

Into your life they will sneak
It starts when you're always afraid

You step out of line, the man comes and takes you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop, now, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Stop,fishermen what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down

Good for you. That must have been fun and good to hear. I guess I will stop by on my way home from work next week and do some skin plugging in the middle of the nite. Thanks I needed the motivation.

No giants but better fish than I have been seeing and, yes, it was the middle of the night. Look at the tides for last night and you will get a good idea of the time the fish started showing.

Maybe I can return the favor when SoCo heats up.

Good move. I fished all of my go to eel spots between 1am and 5am. Not even a touch. You might find this disturbing, but at the end of the night I said to myself "%$%$%$%$ these things" and dumped 2 dozen live eels back into the canal, tied on a shad, and hooked up one my first cast. There's hope for me yet. Probably stayed too loyal too long with the eels as I knew there were plenty of fish to be had by other means.

I hope Numbskull reads this post and gives me heaping accolades

Hey, Mike P:
1. This isn't my post. You cannot unring the bell. All I did was confirm what Stiff Tip said.
2. You can come to SoCo anytime and I'll show you all my "secret" spots.
3. I didn't realize that by putting up a post with constituted "spot burning".
