The medium version (soft maple) is a dead on copy and fishes very well....particularly by day from the boat. It tends to run sub-surface and suspend. The larger version is a freelance plug made of AYC (somewhere there is a thread that shows how I weighted it...it stays on top) and it has become a midsummer "go-to" plug when I'm fishing quiet water. Plenty of nights it outfishes whatever else I'm carrying. They cast much better than you would think.

Big Fish, Afterhours, and Tatoo also make sweet jointed eels. I've found it more beneficial to carry a jointed eel instead of an "extra" danny or needle (I always carry at least one danny/donny and several needles) whenever conditions are right.

The plug I've not done well with (none are hanging but I've got several) is the BM/Pichney jointed eely. Not sure why, they look great, but I think the thinness of the masterlure and the slower wag make it better for how I fish.
