almost everything that you do in life is influenced by a commerical platform (to use your words). why would fishing be any different?

Shoot, just wanted to get a winter topic going with a little controversy to get it started. 50 replies in 24 hours is pretty good
As many people posted, in the end the choices are ours as consumers who to buy from and to whom we listen to. Target large or enjoy a sunrise, to each his own.

Ask the OTW staff. A couple months ago they whored out the "Lure of the Month" page for the Banjo Minnow.

Yup. I can't imagine what they were thinking or how they expect to be taken seriously when it comes to product reviews.
After that, I'm now expecting at least a quarter-page review in 2010 on the Sham-wow and how useful it is when washing your boat.

There's a good size ad for the Banjo Minnow in the latest edition of OTW. Hey, they cater to freshwater fishing too, I guess.
Oh, and there was also a ShamWow booth at the RI Saltwater Sportsman show last spring.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio

I don't know why people knock the Banjo Minnow so badly. When I used to fresh water fish back in college, we used them all the time and they truly were amazing. They would out fish any other artificial we would use (rapalas, power bait, etc). Caught tons of large mouth bass on them.......and they have a kick arse tune that goes with them. I love the banjo minnow.

i agree with redlite. they're just as valid as any soft plastic jerk bait out there. the 7" mackeral looks like it would do pretty well in the salt to me.

i'm not sure whats so special about them,,,,but
i was out in the boat on a reservoir in hopkinton and doing ok...
i am always lure hunting when i fish as a habit and noticed a soft plastic minow stuck in a bush....
i powered my way in there to get it just for fun....
it was a Banjo minnow...
i through it on my hook and checked out the action close to the boat just for the hell of it and a small bass slammed it.
so i proceeded to really fish the heck out of it and caught 45 more fish ... so i can highly attest to them working just as good as they say they do... and the only reason i quit catching fish on it was because by then it was shredded .....
