A real cool guy from NY told me to if I put a mullet head on the bottom, the odds were good for a bull red.The head wasn't on the bottom for more than 5 minutes before this monster tried to take it to Cuba...
Damn, Bob, I could've been 3 for 3 on that call - I figured mullet or maybe even a big select live shrimp meant for a big snook

The whole Indian River area is da place for big hog reds - if you get back, also try bait in that backwater that runs out through the inlet, same set-up as our breachways...

Big snook around there too but if the water isn't eat least 70, you'll never see 'em

Check out Florida Sportsman magazine - it's pretty good and covers the whole state spot by spot and it'll give you a leg up next time with more info

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
