Here on the Blackstone it's now over the banks and coming into the parking lot of the complex. One more foot and it will be coming into the entrances and down into the basement like it did a few years ago.
When it recedes the trees are full of plastic shopping bags that are there for a season or two. Doesn't look nice.

Constant hard rain here. No let up at all , just keeps pouring down hard and constant.
My cellar is OK unless I lose power , then I'm screwed. Pump just keeps running day and night.

the manhole covers down the hill from Coddington Brewery are elevated by the water pressure underneath. spraying up about a foot through the vent holes.

septic system is completely flooded and rendered useless right now. Ground is like a sponge. Start peeing outside, I'm sure my daughter and wife will luv that. I called and they told me I was 300th call today, I figured that. Cellar is wet but am able to keep up with it every 15 minutes. I actually think it is raining harder. WTF.

The year that the Kenmore Station got flooded, I was living in Arlington on Mass Ave. There was a stretch of Mass Ave, just after the high school, that was bordered by hills coming down from Rte 2.
We had about 3-4 feet of water in our basement, and a foot of water on Mass Ave, with the manhole covers spraying water like a water fountain.
The only good thing was that my roommate and I had nothing of value in the basement.
As for the snow equivilent, there would be more structural damage from snow, with trees and roofs falling down. That doesn't diminish the comparative cost that the water damage will create.
You'd be screwed either way.

You should see our backyard
A few weeks ago I had ours pumped as it was overflowing, had been a few years so it was time anyway. The water was a steady flow from the leech field back to the main chamber when it was emptied.
