Ken his boat draws less than the 21 contender, can be launched by one person, and last I checked fish don't care about looks of a boat. He also paid less than what a 21 contender goes for. Apples t oranges I guess.

Did you ever get the 200 hpdi back from Mike?

Went to the Block last year on a guys brand new 21' contender. We went out of Point J in seas that I wouldn't even be caught out in, never mind heading out into. That boat ran like a 40 footer. Dry, and comfortable, even in the 5 footers. I would by one in a heartbeat. Sweeeeeeet rides.

No Doubt they ride good, dont see many around out there... All of us Mono Hull owners joke about their looks! Yes fish dont care... I just talked to Mike the other day, how do you know him? He still has the motor...Im sure he'll tell you about some of the runs made in the 21... Him holding on for life in an 80 mile run up the chesapeke in 30 knot wind against tide! Hes got the Tuna Bug bad...It is apples to oranges.... FYI, I bought my 21 Contender brand new boat motor, trailer for 34K, sold it for 20K 7 years later with a repower that costed me 10K... I went down to NC with my buddy Rocco who bought a Brand new 2009 21 Contender,Boat motor trailer for 30K even, just had a 200 Opti on it... Lots of deals out there if you know where to look... What the new 25 world Cat go for???

Mike is a good friend and lives about a mile from me. Yes lots of deals out there especially down south. 34k + 10 k for repower 7 years ago would have put you in the "ugly" boat no problem. With canyon range.........

Mike is a Tuna Junkie now!

The point is, my buddy bought a brand new one cheaper by about 12 percent 7 years later, more deals now. We all have to repower eventually or by something different. On a new 25 cat I would imagine 25-30 k just on motors and controls. If I ever start fishing the canyons I'm hoping it would be on a much bigger boat than I have now!

Mike let me take a look, I thought yamaha stopped making a 150 hpdi, and only make a 200 hpdi... Everyone I know has been going to the 4s... Have a few friends with f150's and they are sweet but yeah, 30 percent more cost... I went with twin f250' s on the new rig, twin 200 hpdi would of been a big savings but I wanted 4s... Better resale and I wanted max horsepower get good cruise mpg...

mine is a 2003 150EFI ;;

yamalube locally is insane / but that penzoil prices are VG ... I just want to get what I need ......... I don,t but cheap s %^&* but I have no idea if that top of the line synthic is over kill .

If I live to buy another motor / I may stay with a two stroke .......... 4,s a re quiet, great on gas / but if you don,t baby them ..wash out .they tend to have issues with the heads .
Plus they are heavy & I like the jump I get coming out of the whole .
I have the 16' tin rig with a 2009 Merc. 30hp 4s .. for low, troll slow & quiet

thanks mike

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!
