anybody else ready to hang it up for the year

Fished RI by boat on Sunday and we got the bag beaten out of us, with only a few togs and a short strip to show for. I just hung up the rods and took the tackle out of my truck. NY archery starts this weekend. Its time to start chasing deer instead of fish. I did fish hard this year and got my PB so I don’t feel so bad hanging it up but it is always bitter sweet. Anybody else out there calling it a year?

I basically hung it up back in mid june. probably only made 5 trips since. I feel guilty, like I should be out there pursuing the big fish that seem to be around this year( not that i'd catch one), but I just don't have the drive like years past. Life has certainly put a damper on my fishing. I'll still make a few trips, but definitely looking forward to next May...

Hang it up?

I just found the fish last weekend!

Far too long of a dry spell to bail so early.

There is no month of the year when you cannot catch a striper in RI waters.

Except for January and February , I have caught stripers in the Atlantic Ocean every month of the year in RI.

Many guys fish March to December.

Thanksgiving weekend can be a big weekend for large.

Some years the stripers are still biting at the Pork Chop and M after all the brussel sprouts are harvested on eastern LI.

I have seen a picture of a lady holding a 60+ pound striper caught in RI Dec 3rd.

the biggest Bluefish I ever caught in my life (over 23 pounds and plenty of them) were taken the last week in November along a wide open RI beach.

I have fished for stripers in RI waters when if I stuck my hands down my waders to warm them up , my balls were colder than my hands.
That's when its time to hang it up for the season.

I'm not planning on hanging it up this year until Dec? Last year I was forced to hang it up early on Nov 2: with a BOOM!

Still got several tuna trips, tog trips and general fishing to do....especially now that launches and waters are finally empty of other boaters.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

I'm glad people are hanging it up and going hunting... fewer people crowding spots.
