Don't know how underrated it is but George, NS, has sold me on the Flaptail. He was thrilled to see someone using a plug he used to use a lot back in the olden days.
What a crock...Numby was a bait fisherman way back and probably still is when nobody is looking...
It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

True. I live down the steet from NS; I suspect he stops in to my driveway on the way down to his boat and grabs a few eels. I'm always counting up short...

Try using your fingers next time you count. Keeping track of large numbers (like 3 or 4) can get hard for people your age.
Tattoo seapup as well. Underrated for it versatility. consistantly catches a wide variety of fish, in many different conditions depending on how you fish it.
True story. My buddy and I were watching bait busting all over the place and every couple of minutes, fish would crash them. We couldn't tell what the bait was, so my buddy puts on the weighted treble and throws it into the middle of the school of bait. He didn't snag any bait fish, but hooked a bass perfectly in the corner of the mouth as if it was a lure.
Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio
I have had great luck the past few seasons with the Tony Accetta No. 14 spoon in chrome with yellow feather. Everything from schoolies to a 25 lb'er. Also blues, shad, and even 4 fluke in the flats of the Narrow River this year, just bumping it along the bottom. Great versatile lure! Simple yet very effective.
The F30 and F40 Rebel Minnows. You'd be hard pressed to find a shop that carries them now. Still great fish catchers. Actually almost every plastic plug under $10 is overlooked nowadays. I work in a shop and you should see the looks I get when I recommend a $6.00 dollar redfin. They think I'm trying to sell them junk. Everyone wants the high priced wood. But plastic is making a comeback! Superstrike, Northbar, etc.
Those of you who think the bucktail is under rated have never been to Montauk.
I am surprised no one ever talks about the old storm shallow macs those are great cheap plastic plugs that catch a ton of fish. They cast well for there size too. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device

Well plan on stopping by my booth at the MSBA show, I'm back in business and will have a good supply of my 8" grubs. I know you and your canal friends like the 7" split tail in the canal, along with the 13" MegaJerks. You won't find good plastic at the prices I'll have at the show.

1/2 oz. kalin ulimate jig head with a 4" split tail in olive glitter, every spring when the bass are slurping, nothing puts them in the boat faster. I'd second Saltheart on the 8" grub, on a 1-1/2oz jig head you can work a lot of the water column, good changeup for me when I get weary of jigging and want to switch to a conventional to give my right arm a rest.
I don't even think I saw one in use this year at the canal. We used to crush the fish in the canal on them. The 4oz model casts like a bullet, stays on top, and is virtually indestructable. You can also get the all white and put a mackerel paint job on it. Pretty sure they cost less than $15 too.
I'll second the Chrome one, cheap very afective and even the seagulls like them

One that was catching fish for you 20-30 years ago, that you have a stash of, but that you always pass over in favor of the latest and the greatest.
Stuff like Kastmasters, original Atom Jrs, Redfins, Hopkins, Rebels, and so on.
Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.
Does that mean I should go back to drifting seaworms?
