Lets hope we are making new heros as fast as the old ones are dying. We hear about every mistake made in Iraq and Afgansistan but we seldom hear about what has been done right or what heroic deeds have been done. Hopefully someone like Tom hanks will fund a series in the future that highlites what our troops are doing now in the hostile places in the world.

saltheart, great point. That was a big theme from the BofB talk too, these guys (101st vets) have gone to Iraq and Afghanistan and say that the guys serving today are the real deal and true heroes. Lets hope we recognize them!

That what we are seeing, great men and now women that have served our country coming back to the civilian side. Maybe we'll have another Greatest Generation with less me-me-me as the Boomers

Maj Winters is a true american hero. WHo helped save the world when he was needed.
I dont know how you can compare one hero to another. However, there are still great men doing great things. Unfortunately the media is not behind them due to their views on the wars. Its an all volunteer force. And it's less than 1% of the country is volunteering. The pay is less than minimum wage, the deployments are long and often , the sacrifices huge, and theres alot of negativity directed in their direction.

I served with quite a few heroes!
