I saw that once, but no evidence of associated material, guess people got pissed and chased surveyors off each time!

The new World Geodetic System was called WGS 84. It is currently the reference system being used by the Global Positioning System |

If you can find a USGS Topographical map there wil be a little black X with BM next to it in the location where the marker is. With a map and that marker to get yo close it should be cinch to find.
